The sinusitis is an inflammation of mucous and sinus produced for various reasons. For example, viral or bacterial infections, dental problems, allergies, fungi, etc. It produces very annoying and painful symptoms and can even cause fever. The pain is felt in the forehead and nose but can reach the mouth and ears.
Sinusitis can be triggered by catarrhs and badly cured rhinitis, which is why it is also called rhinosinusitis. It can be acute if it lasts less than four weeks or chronic when it lasts for months.
Doctors usually prescribe antibiotics when they make a diagnosis of sinusitis (if the origin is in an infection) and analgesics to treat the pain it causes. But if you want to treat it at home with less aggressive methods for the body, then I’ll give you some natural remedies to cure sinusitis that are very effective.
Make nasal washes with boiled water, salt and bicarbonate, applied with a dropper, several times a day.
You can also do a nasal shower with a device called Lotta, which is a kind of shower with a long spout. You should put boiled water with salt in the Lotta, wait until it is warm and apply the spout through one of the holes in your nose. Placing the head in a certain way that is explained in the instructions of the device, the water will slide from one nasal sinus to the other, cleaning in depth the channels and expelling mucus.
The essences of eucalyptus, pine and chamomile are very effective in treating sinusitis. You can apply it in the form of drops on the cheeks or disultas in boiled water to make vapors.
If you have sinusitis you should take several times a day infusions of mallow, lemon and ginger, which will help clear the area of mucus.
Do not forget about prevention
Good advice to avoid suffering this painful pathology is to avoid as much as possible colds taking echinacea. When you already have it in the first stages you must do without foods that increase mucus, such as dairy products (especially milk), do not drink alcohol, as it increases the inflammation of the sinuses, and place a humidifier in the room where you sleep so that the air is not dry, a factor that worsens sinusitis.
You can try placing the thumbs on both sides of the nose and pressing the cartilage for 30 seconds, then release and repeat. Do it several times a day.
Did you know…
The nasal shower that I explained in the first remedy is a millenary technique used by the yogis in India who used it as a form of purification of the body.
